Patti Sherlock  and Shakespeare welcome you. Sherlock's dog Shakespeare served as the model for Wolfie, a Vietnam scout dog, in her book Letters from Wolfie. Published by Viking Children's Books, it was selected by Westminster, CO, for its 2005 "One City-One Book" event and for Solano (California) Kids Read, 2008.  The book is a 2009 nominee for the Rebecca Caudill Award, Illinois. It won the 2005 Merial Human-Animal Bond Award from Dog Writers of America, was a nominee for the Young Readers Medal in California, the Young Reader's Choice Award in Rhode Island, and the Maine Student Book Award. It was named to the Pennsylvania Best Books and Lone Star Best Books lists, and was a Junior Library Guild selection.  Learn more about Wolfie here.
